Music Industry Bassetlaw is a development project funded through the European Regional Development Fund and Bassetlaw District Council. The core aim of the project is to develop enterprise through music and the music industry with local residents and businesses based in the district.
The project started in October of 2013 and presently has funding to continue until the summer of 2015. The many delivery strands of this exiting project include a series of seminars and events through the lifetime of the project focussing on developing and awareness and understanding of the key elements necessary to develop and sustain in this challenging industry. Each seminar features respected keynote speakers and facilitators with a proven record of delivery in the business. At a recent event held in Retford the main speaker was Alan McGee founder of Creation Records and long-term mentor to Oasis and Noel Gallagher. Alan was joined by a team of respected A&R managers who discussed recordings and opportunities from the audience. Throughout the lifetime of the project there will be a number of similar seminars with noted industry professionals sharing some of their skills and experiences.
The seminars are complimented by mentoring schemes which take participants on a journey through a thirteen week process with in-depth views of specific business needs. Our first cohort is scheduled to complete the initial mentoring scheme during May 2014 with a second programme proposed to commence late summer 2014.
